Jasper Ridge Estate Continues Its Award-Winning Journey: New Gold Medals and Exceptional Syrah Releases
Since launching in 2023, Jasper Ridge Estate has steadily built a reputation for producing wines that reflect the unique character of Waiheke Island. Last year we celebrated a remarkable "Triple Gold" success, with our 2025 Rosé, 2025 Pinot Gris and 2023 Single Vineyard Syrah all earning Gold recognition from Wine Orbit. As we noted then, consistent excellence across multiple varietals is a powerful indicator of vineyard quality, winemaking precision, and a true sense of place.
This year, we're delighted to announce another outstanding set of results, led by our flagship Syrah collection and the latest release of our Rosé. From vibrant rosé to age-worthy reserve Syrah, the latest awards reinforce Jasper Ridge's commitment to crafting wines of distinction.
2026 Jasper Ridge Rosé
Gold – 93/100, Wine Orbit
Our newly released 2026 Rosé has been awarded Gold (93/100) by respected wine critic Sam Kim at Wine Orbit.
"Pristine and elegantly expressed, the inviting bouquet shows cranberry, Gala apple, lemon peel, and floral aromas. The palate is equally appealing with juicy fruit intensity, well supported by a fleshy texture and crisp acidity, leading to a lengthy, vibrant finish. At its best: now to 2029."
This follows the success of our previous rosé releases. Our 2025 Rosé also achieved Gold 93/100, while the 2024 Rosé was ranked #1 of 64 Rosé wines in New Zealand by The Real Review and was awarded an impressive 95 points and 5 Stars Gold by Bob Campbell MW.
The continued recognition of our Rosé programme demonstrates the consistency of style we are striving for: fresh fruit expression, texture, balance, and the unmistakable influence of Waiheke Island's maritime climate.
2024 Jasper Ridge Single Vineyard Syrah
Gold 5 Stars – 95/100, Wine Orbit
The 2024 Single Vineyard Syrah has earned an excellent 95/100 Gold 5-Star rating.
"Offering excellent fruit purity and perfume, the bouquet features Black Doris plum, raspberry, olive, clove, and toasted almond characters. The palate displays excellent weight, a fine flow, and a supple texture, beautifully framed by layers of polished tannins, making it structured and harmonious with a persistent, refined finish. At its best: 2027 to 2036."
This release builds upon the strong foundation established by earlier vintages. Our 2023 Single Vineyard Syrah achieved Gold 93/100 from Wine Orbit, while the 2022 Single Vineyard Syrah was ranked among New Zealand's top Syrahs and received a Silver-level recommendation with 93 points from The Real Review.
The progression from 2022 through to 2024 highlights the growing strength of our Single Vineyard programme, delivering ever-greater concentration, structure and complexity.
2024 Jasper Ridge Winemaker Syrah
Gold 5 Stars – 96/100, Wine Orbit
Our 2024 Winemaker Syrah has been awarded an outstanding 96/100 Gold 5-Star rating.
"Gorgeously composed and styled with aromas of sweet plum, dark cherry, violet, olive, and fine oak, it's beautifully weighted and finely flowing in the mouth with a refined texture and grainy tannins. Splendidly structured and harmonious, it's elegant yet robust and persistent with a promise of gracious evolvement. At its best: 2028 to 2038."
The Winemaker Series represents a more refined and carefully curated expression of our estate Syrah, showcasing both vineyard character and winemaking artistry.
Its success follows the recognition achieved by our 2022 Guest Winemaker Syrah, which received 93 points and a Silver recommendation from Bob Campbell MW. The 2024 vintage raises the bar even higher, delivering greater depth, elegance and cellaring potential.
2024 Jasper Ridge Reserve Syrah
Gold 5 Stars – 97/100, Wine Orbit
Leading this year's awards is the 2024 Reserve Syrah, which received a remarkable 97/100 Gold 5-Star rating.
"A magnificent rendition, the alluring bouquet reveals blackberry, raspberry, warm spice, tapenade, pressed flower, and elegant oak nuances. It's concentrated and seamlessly flowing on the palate with a multi-layered mouthfeel and plush texture, leading to a sustained, captivating finish. This is superbly fashioned with poise and power. At its best: 2028 to 2040."
As our pinnacle Syrah, the Reserve represents the very best parcels from the estate. The score places this wine amongst the finest Syrahs reviewed by Wine Orbit and underscores the quality potential of Waiheke Island-grown fruit when paired with meticulous vineyard and winery practices.
